Ibuki

My Culture Workshop

Presented by Ibuki Mizota

My workshop aims to allow participating students to understand cultures, both inner and outer, through cross-cultural interaction and discussions with peers and foreigners.

During the time I have studied in international schools, I recognized the importance of not only understanding my home country's culture, Japan, but also understanding in my hometown and own background.

I would like for my students to acquire knowledge and understanding in their own identity which could be Japan or their hometown, so-called “own culture” before they move on in life.

Tour Guide Workshop

Presented by Kaho Mochizuki

My workshop aims to allow participating students to be able to introduce their region to tourists from all over the world by recognizing attraction of the region where their school belongs to.

I grew up in Minobu, Yamanashi, where tourists from overseas are annually increasing. There are not enough people who can introduce attraction of my region with other languages. Also, my region is suffering from a population decline, so there is a chance for students to use that situation to practice their English, which they learn at school. I have heard that some students hate or do not like English very much while I get involved with some regions. I want students to realize that there is a way to enjoy English, and they can get new perspectives from other languages or culture. Moreover, I hope that they can gain confidence through actually talking to people from different countries.

Multicultural Workshop

〜How's our school?〜

Presented by Yasuyuki Tanaka

In my workshop I’m going to introduce cultures focusing on school life that I actually experienced in various areas. To junior high school students, topics about school will be an easy one to understand and getting some ideas from it. So by knowing about schools with other cultures, they will eventually start thinking how’s our school?

By understanding others, understand yours is what I aim.
